The Aircraft

The F-14A was the U.S. Navy's answer to defending a carrier from the horizon inward. Two crew, two engines, variable-sweep wings, and the AIM-54 Phoenix gave it reach nothing else could match. Wings forward to trap aboard the boat; swept back to run down a threat at Mach 2.
